The printer is quite good for printouts and scans but the draining of the ink is something to look out for. Hence, this is probably why HP has an ink cartridge program to automate the consumer spending. I would never know which is it, but what I do know is that I am no longer getting the amount of pages printing and I am being forced to purchase color ink to print black only printouts. I do not think I will be purchasing another HP printer in the future as I can't help feel that the following are occurring, printing color ink with black ink to waste ink, reduced the amount filled in the ink cartridge, or systematically control the life of ink and force consumer to purchase ink at an earlier time than required. One big draw back is that you cannot print black only, when any of the color ink cartridges is empty. For the last 2 years, I have noticed that the pages were getting less for the same 951 and 952 xl ink cartridges, and my color inks are finishing quicker with only black print outs. Long term use, Great printouts, pocket drainer I had initially purchased this printer, a few years back, for the amount of pages It can print for the low cost.
